Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Agent independently ensures accurate and timely preparation of purchasing
documents, travel requests and reimbursements, GE Corporate Card reconciliations, and payment of invoices for The Inn at Virginia Tech and
Skelton Conference Center. Responsibilities include wage payroll and salary overtime entries into Banner; enters new employees into the
TimeClock system; develops and updates operating procedures for the Accounting Department at IVTSCC ensuring University, State and Benchmark
audit requirements are met. Serves as a back up for other positions including Accounts Receivable, Income Audit, and Bookkeeping. Assists
Hotel Controller with special projects.
Required Qualifications
Previous accounting experience with demonstrated knowledge of standard accounting practices and
procedures; proficiency in basic word processing and spreadsheet packages; experience providing administrative support; ability to
communicate effectively with hotel guests, hotel employees, hotel department heads, vendors, and all levels of the University community;
ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in accounting, business, or a related field and/or related accounting courses; knowledge
of University accounting policies and procedures, or extensive accounts payable experience; experience developing operating policies and
procedures; familiarity with a variety of computer software such as Microsoft Office products, University Banner Finance, University Banner
HR system, and TimeClock payroll system; University payroll experience.
